§ 04 / About

A small studio, built around the work.

Founder

16:3 Studio was started because the software I wanted to use kept not existing. Tools that were fast without being shallow. Products that respected the time of the people using them. Software that aged well.

Before the studio I spent a decade building software inside other people’s companies — sometimes as the founding engineer, sometimes as the third-from-last hire before a rebuild. The good projects had one thing in common: small teams who took the work personally.

The studio exists to be that kind of team for founders who need one, and who care about the difference between shipping something and shipping something good.

What we believe
  1. 01

    Less, but better.

We’d rather do three things well than ten things adequately. Saying no is part of the work.

  2. 02

    Calm beats clever.

Software should feel quiet. The cleverness belongs in the system, not in the user’s face.

  3. 03

    Ship things that age well.

We pick boring, durable choices on purpose. The product is what people see; the foundation is what keeps it standing.

  4. 04

    Treat the work as serious.

We commit our work to the Lord. We treat your product like our own and your team like collaborators, not clients.

The name

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Proverbs 16:3

The studio is named after a verse that anchors the work. It’s why we’re patient about the long arc of a product, and why we’re unwilling to hurry past the parts that matter.

§ 05 / Get in touch

Want to work together?

We’re selective about engagements so we can do each one well. Tell us what you’re building and we’ll write back.
